This year, Homeward Animal Shelter’s monthly microchip clinics will begin on April 25th. These clinics operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so no appointments are needed.
Microchipping is quick, painless, and could prove indispensable when it comes to locating missing pets. Similar to a vaccine, the chip is injected between the animal’s shoulder blades and contains the owners’ contact information. If a wayward dog or cat loses their identification tags, their chip can be scanned and ultimately bring them home.
Owners should always be sure the information contained in the chips are current and up to date. Any change of address, phone number, or other valuable details should be added to the database.
